About us

holiness to jehovah

We are a Christian people, of holiness and missionary

The Church of the Nazarene in West Richmond is a Hispanic and multicultural ministry in Central Virginia. This ministry was founded in 2008, and since then the Lord has blessed us with a beautiful family in Christ from different nations and we have witnessed many miracles such as the salvation of souls and the transformed lives of many families.

As Children of God, we believe that the primary task of our Ministry is to preach His Word under the power of His Holy Spirit and He has entrusted us with the message of His Son Jesus Christ to our community. In each service we learn from His Word, we join in celebrating with songs of worship to God. We are a church called to holiness and service, our purpose and vision is:

“to love God and love our neighbor at all times and in all places.”

Our history

In 2008 there was a vision to plant a new Hispanic ministry within the Church of the Nazarene in Hanover, under the guidance of Rev. Gregory Norwood and Rev. Rigoberto Acosta. At the time of the new beginning, Rev. Nicanor Mairena assumed the ministry and began serving the Hispanic community with services and discipleship. In 2010, Pastor Gomez began leading the congregation until the end of 2020. During this decade of service, Rev. Gomez led the congregation to growth and the transition from “new planting” to Organized status. In 2017, Pastors Gomez & Hernandez planted a daughter church in North Chesterfield: El Remanente. In late 2020, Rev. Hernandez returned to Comunidad Esperanza and was called to serve as pastor in July 2021.
